The International Academic Newah Conference 2025 marks a significant milestone in the academic and cultural preservation of Newah heritage. This conference aspires to bridge the gap between traditional cultural practices and contemporary scholarly discourse, setting the stage for the next decade of academic engagement. By bringing together academics, cultural practitioners, community leaders, activists, and enthusiasts, this platform will enhance interdisciplinary discussions and propose actionable strategies for sustaining Newah heritage. The conference will place special focus on addressing modern challenges, exploring adaptive practices, and amplifying the global significance of Newah cultural contributions. This conference aims to critically examine the dynamics of continuity and change within Newah culture.

This conference is organized by Pasa Puchah Guthi UK in collaboration with SOAS, University of London and Khanla-Balnlha to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Taking place on 6th, 13th and 14th September 2025, in London, this initiative explores the evolution, continuity, and transformation of Newah heritage, language, rituals, and identity in Nepal and the diaspora. It brings together scholars, activists, and cultural practitioners to engage in interdisciplinary discussions on preservation, protection, adaptation, and historical significance.
